Manage Your Metabolism Rate
Mar 18th, 2010 | By Kat Wendersen | Category: Fitness TrainingMetabolism reactions that take place throughout our body are meant to keep our cells in tip top condition. It is a vital process to sustain life. Most of us know that our metabolism burn the food calories to keep us going. What affects this metabolic rate are our weight and cholesterol levels.
Usually, people who experience high metabolic rates are those who have low body fats or exercise regularly. The reason being that muscles burn more calories than fats.
Dieting and Metabolism
If you embark on low calorie dieting, it will slow your metabolism to an extent that makes it difficult for you to lose weight. In fact, you could even end up gaining weight.
To prevent the slowing down of metabolism when you are on low calorie diets, you may want to consider using metabolism boosters. Natural foods that boosts metabolism can be taken instead of pills as some pills contain animal thyroid extract and therefore come with side effects.

Although not all of the pills contain animal thyroid extract, you need to be careful and check their ingredients. Such pills can also help in heart conditions where blood flowing to the heart muscles has been blocked and the lowering of the metabolic rate occurred.
While cholesterol and dieting are seen as the reasons for slowing down metabolism, they are however not the only reasons. Fasting, sweet snacks, food containing too much saturated fat and the underactivity of the thyroid slows down metabolism as much as dieting or cholesterol does.
Managing our metabolism rate is a key to better health. If you are concern about your own metabolism, do speak to your doctor.
